Using the same signature in all publications throughout your professional career is important, as this will avoid dispersion of production while also improving bibliometric indicators such as h-index.
In 2008, UPV signed a regulation on scientific signatures that basically sets out the following indications:
In terms of the author's name
If the surname is uncommon, use just this surname and the complete given name, or the initial or initials in the case of compound given names
Using both surnames joined by a hyphen is recommended if the first surname is common
We recommend not using any particles found in surnames. If used, they must be joined with a hyphen
In terms of the place of work
Institutional affiliation should always be included
The order to follow is:
Research structure you are assigned to
Universitat Politècnica de València
Postal address, city and country.
If it belongs to a mixed unit that is overseen by several institutions, all of them will be included.
