A PGD is a formal document that must be presented at the start of the research, outlining the management to be applied throughout the data life-cycle, from creation through to completion of the research project.

It describes which data will be collected or generated, which methodology and standards will be used, how they will be shared and made open access, and how they will be conserved and preserved.

Several guides are available when drafting the Plan, such as DMP ONLINE or (in Spanish) Pagoda PGDonline, which Consorcio Madroño has adapted from the former.
